Milan Rubelli began drawing as a child and gradually made his way to painting. Upon discovering oils in his early twenties, he became enamored with the medium and has been obsessed ever since. Although he has had no formal training, he continues to relentlessly pursue a mastery of figurative surrealism from his home in Amsterdam.
Common subjects and motifs he has returned to over the years include seascapes and whales. Milan is a member of the Ocean Artists Society and painter widely known for his underwater landscapes. Part of his activism is to raise awareness for the beauty and fragility of our oceans through art. At the same time he is using art to highlight the threat of mass extinction in the oceans.
